We are currently looking for PhD students and PDRAs!
PhD Project 1: Nanotechnology Strategies for Cardiovascular Investigations.
Home Students only. Start Date Sept 2023. Application Deadline: 31/5/2023.
Building on previous collaborative work, this project with Prof Matteo Palma at Queen Mary University of London and Heidelberg Nano AG will harness bioengineering strategies for the fabrication of novel biomimetic nanoarrays to study the combined effect of stiffness, geometry and topology on cell behaviour. The bionanoarrays will be then employed for the study of vascular smooth muscle cell mechanosensing in arterial disease.
Please get in touch to discuss this further or follow this link to apply!

PhD Project 2: Human artery models to understand integrated vascular mechanobiology and to validate
therapies for cardiovascular disease.

Open to Home&International Students. Start Date Sept 2023. Application Deadline: 30/6/2023
This project between the Thomas Iskratsch and Paul Evans groups at Queen Mary University of London and Novo Nordisk will harness 3D bioprinting strategies for the fabrication of a novel artery model to study the combined effect of pathophysiological mechanical stimuli on endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cell behaviour and crosstalk. The model will be then evaluated in terms of the vascular biology relevance, mechanical, functional, and disease relevance validation.
Please get in touch for further information or follow this link to apply!

PDRA Project: Talin dependent mechanical imprinting as driver for cardiac disease progression.
Start Date from Sept 2023. Advertisement coming out soon!
This BHF Special Project Grant funded project is a team science project together with Prof Sinha in Cambridge and Prof Goult at the University of Kent. One PDRA will be embedded in each lab, working together to investigate the mechanical imprinting of talin in heart disease. Please get in touch for further information and watch this space for application links to be updated in May 2023.
